Yes, you can migrate your data to a sandbox environment before moving it to your live CRM. However, there are a few important considerations to keep in mind:
-
Sandbox is a separate CRM. This means you will need to create a new migration project for it.
-
Access Requirements: You may require different login credentials or user access permissions for the sandbox, distinct from your production environment.
-
Post-Migration Setup: After migrating data to the sandbox, ensure that your user permissions, custom fields, and other user accounts are consistent with your live portal setup.
-
Custom Property Note: If you’ve created many custom properties in the sandbox and your CRM doesn’t support automatic syncing of those properties to production, you would need to recreate them manually and repeat the data mapping. The SyncMatters team can assist with its transfer from a sandbox. Please note that this is a paid service, typically requiring a couple of hours of work by our migration specialists.
-
Cost Consideration: A full data migration to a sandbox requires the same system resources as migrating to a production environment. Therefore, it is priced the same as a standard full migration.
-
Recommended Approach: We advise running a sample migration to the sandbox (which is free) to verify settings and structure, followed by at least one sample and the full migration to your live portal.
-
Discount for Dual Migration: If you choose to perform full migrations to both the sandbox and production CRMs, we’re happy to offer you a 50% discount on the second full migration.
Sandbox Use is Optional
Migrating to a sandbox is not required. As a safe and efficient alternative, you can run a sample migration directly to your production CRM—even if it already contains live data. Sample data will not overwrite existing records or properties and will be automatically removed when you perform another migration. If you choose not to continue with a full migration, you can clean up the sample records (and only those) with a single click.
