How to export Salesforce data in .csv files?

Exporting Salesforce data into CSV files is a common need, whether for data backup, analysis, or migration. Here’s a step-by-step guide to exporting data for key Salesforce objects—Accounts, Contacts, Leads, Opportunities, Tasks, and Users—and tips for creating full data backups or preparing data for CRM migration.

You can export Salesforce data into CSV files in two ways:

1. Use MigrateMyCRM's service.

It allows you to export different modules or all the modules with saved relations between records. That means if you decide to transfer your data from CSV to another platform, it will have the same connections as it had in your Salesforce account.

2. Use the option Salesforce offers.

  1. Sign in the Salesforce account and click on Setup from ‘Settings’ on the right side of your dashboard.

  1. On the left side of the page layout, press on ‘Data’ first, and ‘Export Data’ after that.

3. Next, select a module you want to create a report of. In order to proceed with the migration, please download the modules data separately.

Below are object-specific instructions for exporting various types of data.

  • Contacts: In Setup, go to Data Import Wizard or Data Export. Select Contacts, choose the desired fields, and download the CSV file.
  • Accounts: Similar to Contacts, go to Data Export and select Accounts to retrieve account information in CSV format.
  • Opportunities: Go to Data Export and select Opportunities to export records, including details like amount, close date, and stages.
  • Tasks: To export tasks, select Tasks in the Data Export window. This will include task descriptions, due dates, and statuses.
  • Leads: Access Data Export, select Leads, and customize the fields if needed. Leads exports are useful for targeted marketing or migration.
  • Users: Export user data to review permissions, roles, and activity. Navigate to Data Export and select Users to save records as CSV.

If you’ve already exported all the files, please go back to MigrateMyCRM and go on with your data transfer.
