How do I review my sample migration results?

Updated on June 17th, 2025

After completing a sample migration, review the results in your target CRM before you proceed with the full migration. Here's a quick guide on how to check the results:

Sample Review Workflow

  1. Review Migrated Records
Randomly select source and corresponding target records. Compare the migrated fields to ensure they align with the field mappings you’ve configured.

  2. Verify Activity Migration (If Applicable)
If activities are part of the migration, open them in both the source and target CRM systems. Confirm that all associations (e.g., related contacts, accounts) have been correctly preserved. If some associations are missing, verify whether the related parent records were included in the sample migration.

  3. Check Key Migration Elements
Pay special attention to the following critical aspects:

    • Record associations

    • Record ownership

    • Dates and timestamps

    • Activity statuses

Discrepancies may result from incorrect auto-mapping. Review and refine your mapping configurations if you identify mismatches between the source and target systems.

  4. Review System Messages for Each Record
For each object in the sample, use the Messages section on the Details page to review any errors, warnings, or informational notices. These messages can help identify issues related to CRM or mapping configurations. Use this insight to make adjustments before running the next sample.

Keep the following points in mind:

  • You can rerun the sample migration without limitations, as many times as you need.
  • Limited Record Scope: A sample migration does not transfer the full set of associated records or activities due to volume limits. For example, if a source company has 10 linked contacts, only a few may be included in the sample. You can verify whether a missing contact was part of the sample by searching for its ID in the migration report. If the contact’s ID appears in the report but is not associated with its company in the target system, review the relationship mapping settings for the Contacts object.

  • Post-Sample Adjustments Are Normal: It’s common to revise field mappings or record-matching rules after reviewing the sample migration results. Please note that these changes will only take effect in your target CRM during the next migration run.
